Package Delivered To The Wrong Address

If you get a Delivered notification from your UPS tracking and yet, you are unable to find your package, first, check thoroughly around your property and with neighbours to make sure the package wasn’t collected on your behalf. UPS representatives tend to try to keep the package as securely as people to prevent theft. If there still is no sign of your package, your package may have been delivered to the wrong address. Before contacting customer service, reach out to the sender first to confirm that they provided the correct address and to begin a trace with UPS. The sender will then inform you of the status of the parcel. If your package is confirmed to have been delivered wrongly, you can compile all relevant information about the package and file a claim with UPS. Speak with a customer service representative at the UPS hotline which is open every day from 6 am to 1 am at 1-800-742-5877 and provide as much detail as possible about the situation. They will begin the process of reclaiming the package.

UPS will confirm whether or not your parcel was delivered to the wrong address by checking the GPS location from where the “delivered” notification was sent. If it is confirmed that your parcel was delivered incorrectly, a UPS representative will contact the residence, visit the address and attempt to reclaim the package. After getting the package back, it will be delivered to you. In the case that there seems to be no progress with reclaiming your package, you may then file for a refund.

What if someone’s package is delivered to me? If you received a package intended for someone else, make sure you do not attempt to open the parcel. Although your first instinct may be to try to deliver the parcel on behalf of the shipping company, try to refrain from doing so as UPS already has a system in place to handle wrong deliveries. Call UPS and press the 0 key a few times to get a representative to speak with. Explain the situation and provide all relevant details like the address on the parcel, delivery information, etc.

Once UPS has identified the correct recipient, a representative will arrive at your address to reclaim the package and initiate the delivery to the intended recipient. It is necessary to provide all potentially helpful information about the parcel. If the initial delivery order address given by the sender was incorrect, either a mistake from the sender or you, UPS will not be able to assist or reclaim the package.

How To File a Claim For a Refund

The requirement to qualify for a refund from UPS is that the cause of the wrong delivery has to be a mistake from UPS you would need to file a claim. To file a claim, visit the claims page on the official UPS website. In the case that the representative you spoke to already opened a claim on your behalf, there is no need to open another. All you have to do is wait for a response.

Filing a claim yourself requires information about the parcel like the tracking number, intended delivery address, estimated declared value, and relevant documents like receipts and order confirmation, etc. Your claim may take between 8-15 business days to be processed. After which, it will either be approved or denied. Approved claims require documentation for payment which may take about 3 to 5 days to process. If your claim is denied by UPS, you can attempt to contact the sender for a refund.

A chat feature exists on the official UPS website to track packages and answer questions as well. This feature can guide you on how to go about filing a claim.

In summary, if your package is delivered wrongly, try to stay calm and provide as many details as possible. This will help ensure your package is reclaimed and gotten to you safely.

How long will reclaiming my package take?

There is no certain time frame but you will receive a notification as soon as the package has been successfully reclaimed.
